Give To Thanksgiving Offering
November 03, 2006
Children come to Baptist Children’s Homes broken, battered, and carrying the burdens of the world on their shoulders. With the help of North Carolina Baptists and our friends who have a heart for children, we show them God’s love.
The 2006 Thanksgiving Offering goal is $1,375,000. The Offering is vital to meeting the tremendous needs of the children in our care over the next year. For us to meet our goal, we need everyone to participate. Whether you are a church or an individual who wants to make an essential difference in the lives of hurting children, your gift will help.
Partner with us to provide our children with the care they desperately need. Promotional materials for this year’s theme, Show You Love are available for order. Contact Wyatt Stewart at 1-800-476-3669, ext. 1209 to schedule a BCH speaker for your church and to order materials including the new 2006 video (available on DVD and VHS).

Willett Ministries Groundbreaking
October 01, 2006
Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina (BCH) held a groundbreaking ceremony for one of its two new Sanford group homes for developmentally disabled adults on Sunday, September 10. BCH staff members, community members and friends were in attendance. The homes will serve special needs adults and their families in the Lee County area.
The homes are a part of BCH’s Developmental Disabilities Ministry (DDM) which provides long-term residential care and opportunities for residents to achieve goals and reach their highest level of independence in community-based, gender-specific group homes.
BCH is in the process of a fundraising campaign to raise the necessary funds to build the two homes. The groundbreaking ceremony is for only one of the two homes. BCH currently has only enough funds to build one home. BCH recently announced a “challenge gift” to raise the necessary resources to construct both homes. An anonymous donor will match every two dollars given to the construction of these future homes with an additional one dollar. Donations will be matched up to $100,000. The challenge gift has been made available for a limited time.
“It is essential that we meet this challenge goal in order to build the second home,” BCH vice president of development and communications Brenda Gray said. “When we reach $900,000 then we will receive our challenge gift making this second home a reality.”
BCH’s Sanford based ministry has been dubbed Willett Ministries. Jane Willett-Cromer, a resident of Gulf and mother of developmentally disabled adult, gave three and a half acres of land for the Sanford-based homes to BCH in the memory of her husband Howard.
