Twenty-five Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina (BCH) direct care staff members have received professional certification from Georgia-based National Center for Professional Certification (NCPC).
Staff members receiving certification include Thomas Anderson, Kinston; Gail Armstrong, Lenoir; Dee Beach, Kinston; Rhonda Bunker, Thomasville; Rusty Bunker, Thomasville; Tim Dailey, West; Elizabeth Evans, Pembroke; Pamela Hailey, Pembroke; Sylvia Harper, Pembroke; Bill Harris, West; Judy Harris, Linda Haynsworth-Krueger, Kinston; West; Kathy Lee, Pembroke; Katina Lee, Pembroke; Kathy Locklear; Pembroke; Chris Manning, Kinston; Rita Manning, Kinston; Roscoe Mcnair, Kinston; Princess Oates, Kinston; Latrice Rhodes, Kinston; Adam Saunders, West; Sian Saunders, West; Kevin Ward, Kinston; Janita Wiegel, Lenoir; Jeffrey With, Kinston; and Valerie Wright, Pembroke.
“This is about providing quality care to the children and families who turn to us for help,” said BCH president Michael C. Blackwell.
Direct care staff members consist of child care workers, clinicians and case managers who work directly with children and families. Each staff member undergoes NCPC’s extensive training and certification program offered in partnership with the Children and Family Services Association – North Carolina (CFSA-NC) in Raleigh. The program is made possible through a pilot project sponsored by The Duke Endowment in Charlotte.
In 2004, BCH was the first agency in the state to employ professionally certified child care workers. Certification for child care workers is currently not a requirement for residential caregivers in North Carolina.
“Through our commitment and dedication to achieve the highest possible standard, BCH continues to set the pace as a leader in care to hurting children and families,” Blackwell said. “It is our goal to be a provider of choice in a culture of excellence.”
Since 1885, Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina has helped children and families in crisis. BCH began with one campus, Mills Home in Thomasville, but now provides services in communities across the state.
