February 23, 2007
Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina (BCH) has received a $10,000 grant from the Food Lion Charitable Foundation. The 121-year-old ministry will use the gift for ongoing operational needs in carrying out its mission of helping hurting children…healing broken families.
“Food Lion’s gift is a tremendous help to our boys and girls,” says BCH president Michael C. Blackwell. “Their generosity helps meet the daily needs of our residents.”
Baptist Children’s Homes provides residential placement services through five family service areas and three special ministries throughout North Carolina. It operates four residential campuses, group homes, a teen mother/baby parent home, group homes for developmentally disabled adults, a model day care program, and a wilderness camp for boys. A nonprofit organization, the agency depends on the support of organizations such as the Food Lion Charitable Foundation, churches and other friends who desire to make a difference in the lives of children.
Established in 2001, the Food Lion Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to improving the communities in which Food Lion operates. The Foundation places an emphasis on the support of primary and secondary education, feeding the hungry, and organizations that enhance the quality of life in Food Lion’s local communities.
