Grant Helps Baptist Children’s Homes’ Residential Facilities

June 07, 2007

The Broyhill Family Foundation has given three grants to help Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina (BCH). The $76,000 total contribution will assist the child care institution with numerous needs at their statewide service areas.

The foundation gave a $50,000 grant towards renovations for residential cottages at BCH’s Broyhill Home in Clyde. Another $20,000 grant was made by the foundation to fund BCH’s annual corporate video. The final $6,000 grant will purchase Christmas gifts for Broyhill Home residents.

“The Broyhill family and foundation have been dedicated friends of Baptist Children’s Homes for many years,” says BCH president Michael C. Blackwell. “They consistently help ensure the needs of our children are met and for that we are most grateful.”

Broyhill Family Foundation, located in Lenoir, North Carolina, was formed in 1945 by J.E. Broyhill and his family. Broyhill Home is named in honor of the Broyhill family who made the original lead gift towards the construction of the BCH western area campus. Broyhill Home opened in April 1971.

"The Broyhill Family and the foundation are pleased to have such a long-time relationship with Baptist Children's Homes," said Paul H. Broyhill, current foundation chairman and son of J.E. Broyhill. "We feel that we are partners with BCH in changing the lives of many young people."

Since 1885, Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina has reached out to children and families in crisis. BCH began with one campus, Mills Home in Thomasville, but now provides services in communities across the state.
