North Florida Group Visits Broyhill

06.30.2009

A group of approximately 20 youth from North Florida came to put on a concert for the Broyhill Home campus on June 25. This is a singing group that also made the trip Broyhill last year. They indicated that they had been so well received and enjoyed their earlier trip so much that they wanted to come back again this year. The concert was awesome and Broyhill provided some light refreshments for the group before they started their off to their next destination. Thank you North Florida for taking the time to visit our campus! We hope to see you next year.

ONE VOICE Returns to Broyhill

06.22.2009

ONE VOICE from Providence Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC returned to Broyhill this year for a concert and day of fun. The group is comprised of high school ladies from the church who enjoy singing for the Lord. As Director of ONE VOICE, Melissa McLamb, stated in a letter to Linda Morgan, "we had not planned on doing another tour this summer but we had such a great year that we changed our minds." ONE VOICE completed their first CD project last fall and they are sending Broyhill a copy of this CD for us allowing them to come and sing last year. They arrived on the campus with about 20 members in their group. They set up for the concert at the gym and then provided games with our children. After the games, they provided us with an awesome concert which was followed by a lunch that we provided. They were going to Ghost Town following our time together and we graciously packed them a picnic supper for their trip. This was a special time together and everyone enjoyed the day! We hope they can come back next year. Thank you ONE VOICE for remembering Broyhill in your summer tour!

Western Area Arrives at Dollywood

06.22.2009

On June 16, the Western Area residents and staff arrived at Dollywood for a day of fun and sun! (and speaking of sun, it was so hot you could fry an egg on the pavement!) Everyone met at the gates early in order to get into the park by 9:00 a.m. Once in the park, everyone scattered to their favorite ride, show or food court. We had plenty of little ones this year and they all met up at the kiddie rides! The roller coasters were wild, the water rides were cool and the food was awesome! Luckily this was a day when the park was not at its fullest, and the lines to ride the rides were not that long. We were able to ride over and over and over.....again! Those who took the time to eat ate at the food courts or brought their lunch. The others just kept on riding and riding. Some of the children tried to see how many more times they could ride a ride than their friends. At the end of the day, everyone was sunburned, tired and ready for the long ride home. (it made for a quiet ride.) We can't wait to go back next year and we are looking forward to Splash Country next month!
