Wilderness Camping Referral

Referrals to Baptist Children's Homes are accepted from anyone and can be as simple as an email or a phone call. Children and families are referred by themselves, departments of social services, pastors, educators, juvenile services, or other family members.

The admissions process begins by contacting the nearest BCH Family Services Area or the individual Special Ministries office. Applications for admission are provided to and received from only the legal custodian who must be a legal resident of North Carolina.

A BCH social worker and the entire family hold initial inquiry interviews, and a strength-based assessment is conducted with the family. The decision to provide service is made by the area providing the service. A plan of service is then prepared stating the purpose of the service based on the family's issues, including goals and strategies necessary to help the child and family.

Cost of service is based on a sliding fee scale for parent or relative custodians. DSS and other social service custodians will pay based on a pre-established purchase of service charge.
