HOMEBASE College Ministry is a new outreach for college students who have aged out of foster or residential care. The ministry offers the compassionate support students need to be successful in school and life. Through its dynamic outreach center, students can access a network of resources and connect with caring people they can count on.
HOMEBASE works in collaboration with Western Carolina University (WCU) in Cullowhee and operates on the campus utilizing the former Baptist Student Union building. The ministry focuses on helping students who may be at risk of not completing their college education due to a lack of support and guidance. Many of these students drop out of school because they do not have families they can turn to for even basic necessities. HOMEBASE is helping to fill the void by providing a compassionate place where these students can receive help and build community.
HOMEBASE helps students navigate the life stage transitions from high school to independent living by teaching life skills, creating social opportunities to develop lasting friendships, meeting physical needs and providing emotional and spiritual support throughout their college experience.
