Support grows for BCH's Western NC Homes at Broyhill Barbecue Festival, a church-led event.
The annual “Cookin’ for the Kids” Broyhill Home Barbecue Festival brought together some of Western North Carolina’s best cook teams, gospel groups and community friends to support Baptist Children’s Homes’ (BCH) boys and girls. Approximately 300 participants came to BCH’s campus in Clyde on Friday, May 8, for the beginning of the 3-D bow shoot. On Saturday, May 9, more than 1,000 guests sampled original barbecue recipes while admiring the classic vehicles at the car show. The festival is organized by Ninevah Baptist Church in Waynesville with the support of area churches and vendors.
Ted Inman (above) slathers ribs and chicken with his team’s original barbecue sauce. Teams compete in best ribs, best barbecue and best chicken categories. One team is crowned the festival’s grand champion.

This event is made possible with the help of our many volunteers who prepare the barbecue for serving.
The classic car show also includes trucks, tractors and motorcycles.
Last year, the “Divine Swine” received awards in all three categories.
