Thank You for Serving Like Jesus

Jesus speaks in Mark 3:10 about His mission: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” This fall, churches, families, and individuals converged on Kennedy Home in Kinston, Odum Home in Pembroke, Mills Home in Thomasville, Camp Duncan in Aberdeen, Cameron Boys Camp, and Oak Ranch in Broadway to go on mission together, sharing hope and changing lives.

Through the time and service of volunteers of all ages, the children, adults, and families entrusted to the care of Baptist Children’s Homes (BCH) have a safe place to call home during this season of their lives. During Friends of Children events held around the state, cottages that children and single moms call home have been deep cleaned and refreshed to provide an inviting and more comfortable living space. Office buildings and food lockers have been organized and cleaned to ensure easy access. Trails have been groomed, and wood has been chopped for our wilderness camps, assuring campers have ample wood for cooking and heating this winter. Paint has been retouched, and cosmetic repairs have been made to BCH facilities, which serve as a temporary safe haven for those in need.

Through the many people who have come together to serve, hope has been shared and love displayed. We are grateful for the many projects that were completed, but most importantly, we are thankful for the sacrificial display of love through service. You can continue to give the gift of service throughout the year. Please visit bchfamily.org/volunteer to find your spot to volunteer. New opportunities are posted weekly online.
